“In the language of the province, the castle and manor of Wagensperg is called Bogenšperk; it is situated in Dolenjska, four miles from Ljubljana. This castle is another one of those old mountain castles built on a high hill in the middle of forests. It has a view far out over the high snow-capped mountains towards Carinthia and Styria, clean and healthy air, not plains, but fields on the hills, excellent fruit of every kind – there are four or five cherries on one stalk – a vineyard near the wine-growing area, and, not far from the castle, the beautiful black and yellow marble which I have already inventoried in its place.”

Museum
Bogenšperk has become a part of history and Slovenian national consciousness thanks to the famous polyhistor from Kranj, Janez Vajkard Valvasor, who created the first “museum” on Slovenian soil, typical of the collector’s art of that time.

Bogenšperk Castle Gallery presents a survey exhibition of LLila Art Society, which offers an insight into the diverse creativity of its members. The works on display range from landscapes, figures, still lifes and animal motifs to abstractions and applied ceramics.

Exhibition of Herend porcelain: TRADITION INNOVATION
The Bogenšperk Castle Gallery is open until 15. June, an outstanding exhibition of Herend porcelain entitled TRADITION INNOVATION. Handmade and hand-painted porcelain products that are part of Hungary’s national treasure, recognised worldwide for the Hungarikum brand, which even impressed Queen Victoria of England.
